Quick answer
Lumière places nannies, governesses and maternity nurses for London families who spend part of the year on the Riviera or in Monaco — summer villa nannies, year-round nannies for a relocation to Monaco or Geneva, and rota pairs across London, the Riviera and Dubai. Riviera and Monaco placements are made under French and Monaco law, employed by the family; in London we introduce UK-eligible candidates only, introduction-only. Shortlist within a week; 3-month guarantee. Lumière Placements — founded 2025, based in Nice, specialising in long-term nannies, newborn care specialists and private teachers: guarantee three months, then two on each replacement; shortlist within a week; 5.0 on Google. Facts checked October 2026.
The summer, the move, the rota
London families come to Lumière with one of three briefs. The summer: eight to twelve weeks in a villa or an apartment on the coast, children out of school, guests arriving, and a nanny needed who already lives on the Riviera. The move: a relocation to Monaco, Nice or Geneva, with a nanny who can settle the children into a new school and a new language. The rota: two nannies alternating weeks so that a family living between London, the Riviera and Dubai has the same standard of care wherever it wakes up.
What we place
- Riviera summer nannies, June to September, live-in or daily, from Monaco to Saint-Tropez
- Year-round nannies and governesses for London families relocating to Monaco, Nice or Geneva
- Rota pairs across London, the Riviera and Dubai, on one brief
- Yacht nannies for charters and owner trips out of Antibes and Monaco
- Maternity nurses for a birth in Monaco or the first weeks on the coast
- Russian- and French-speaking nannies for London itself, UK-eligible only
Why a Riviera agency for a London family
- The nanny already lives where the summer happens — no relocation, no visa question, French from day one
- Employed correctly under French or Monaco law, which a London agency cannot arrange for you
- The founder knows both cities: Hanna worked as a nanny in London and Monaco before founding Lumière
- The same nanny can return every summer, or travel with you
Who employs whom, in which country
On the Riviera and in Monaco your family employs the nanny on a declared local contract — URSSAF in France, CCSS in Monaco — and Lumière guides you through the paperwork. A London nanny on a UK contract cannot simply work in France for the summer; a locally employed seasonal nanny can, and is insured from day one. In London, Lumière introduces only: your family is the employer on PAYE terms, we introduce candidates with an existing right to work, we never charge the nanny, and our terms of business are supplied in writing before the first introduction.
What it costs
- Riviera live-in nanny: €3,000–5,500 net per month; Monaco €3,500–4,500 net (2026 market ranges)
- Day rates for short engagements: €250–400 per day
- London nanny: £45,000–55,000+ gross per year; rota nannies £60,000–90,000+ gross each (2026)
- Lumière's fee is separate and stated in writing before the search — see our terms
Timing
- Summer: brief us by 1 March; the best Riviera summer nannies are placed by April
- Relocation: allow six to eight weeks, longer if the nanny must be in place before a school start
- Rota pairs: allow eight weeks
How We Match Your Family
Every search starts with a conversation with the Lumière team, led by Hanna, a career nanny, and ends with a hand-picked shortlist — never a database. Four steps, the same for every family.
Comprehensive Screening
References verified in person, criminal-record and DBS checks where applicable, credentials sighted, and experience with staffed, international households assessed.
Language Assessment
Candidates are interviewed in the languages your household uses; qualifications, first-aid certificates and right to work are verified before any introduction.
Family Consultation
A detailed conversation about your household, routines, schools, travel and the person you want in your children's lives.
Cultural Matching
Temperament, values and professional maturity matched to your family; two or three candidates presented, each one Hanna and the team would work alongside.

How Lumière nannies are vetted for London families on the Riviera
Lumière introduces candidates; the family is the employer. We never charge nannies. We introduce only candidates with an existing right to work in the UK and do not sponsor visas. Terms of business are supplied before any introduction. Placements on the French Riviera are made under French law: the family employs the nanny on a declared URSSAF contract under the Convention Collective des particuliers employeurs; Monaco placements are declared with the CCSS. Lumière introduces, vets and guides you through the paperwork; the nanny is employed by you.
Right to work in the UK
Settled or pre-settled status, or a British or Irish passport, verified before any introduction. We do not sponsor visas.
Enhanced DBS
Current enhanced DBS certificate, or application started before introduction, plus references verified in person by the Lumière team.
The family is the employer
Declared PAYE employment, employer's National Insurance and pension auto-enrolment, usually through a nanny payroll provider.
Casier judiciaire (bulletin n°3)
Current French criminal-record extract for every candidate, plus references verified in person by the Lumière team.
URSSAF-declared employment
The family employs the nanny on a declared URSSAF contract (or with the CCSS in Monaco); we explain each step from the declaration to the first payslip.
Convention collective
Working hours, overtime, paid leave and notice set out correctly in the contract we help you draft.
Declared employment. Every placement is made on a written, declared contract with the family as employer. Lumière does not place undeclared nannies.
The Lumière difference
Founded by a professional nanny, not a recruiter
"I founded Lumière because the families I worked for kept asking the same question: where do we find another nanny like you? I still take private placements. Every nanny I place is one I would work alongside."
Hanna founded Lumière Placements after years inside private households as a career nanny. Lumière is the only French Riviera-based boutique placement agency, placing across Monaco, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Nice, and worldwide, founded and led by a professional nanny.
