Quick answer
Lumière places full-season and long-term nannies with Verbier chalet families — live-in from December to April, rota pairs for 24-hour cover, summer placements around the Verbier Festival, and year-round roles for resident families. Candidates are EU/EFTA or permit-holding and employed by the family on a declared Swiss contract. Indicative live-in salaries in Switzerland run CHF 6,000–7,000+ gross per month (2026). Shortlist within a week; 3-month guarantee. Lumière Placements — founded 2025, based in Nice, specialising in long-term nannies, newborn care specialists and private teachers: guarantee three months, then two on each replacement; shortlist within a week; 5.0 on Google. Facts checked October 2026.
From the first lift to the last run
Verbier households run on the mountain's clock: ski school at nine, lunch on the terrace, children asleep before the parents are back from dinner. A seasonal nanny who has done it before makes the difference between a season that works and one that is managed by phone. Lumière places career nannies who know chalet life — the early mornings, the guests, the drive down to Le Châble for school — and who are employed properly for the whole season, not booked by the week.
What we place
- Full-season live-in nannies, December to April, on a written seasonal contract
- Rota pairs for households entertaining through the season
- Summer placements, July and August, for the Verbier Festival weeks and hiking season
- Year-round nannies and governesses for families resident in Verbier, Le Châble and Bruson, including children at Verbier International School or Lemania-Verbier
Where we place
- Verbier village and the chalets above Médran and Savoleyres
- Le Châble, Villette and the valley floor
- Bruson and the quieter side of the valley
- Families splitting the year between Verbier and Geneva, London or the Riviera
What a Verbier nanny placement involves
The family is the employer. In Valais that means a Swiss employment contract, AVS/AHV and accident-insurance registration and pay at or above the Swiss minimum for domestic work, with a seasonal contract written to respect rest days during a six-day chalet week. We confirm every candidate's right to work before an introduction: EU/EFTA citizens can take a seasonal role on an online notification for up to 90 days and an L permit beyond; non-EU candidates are introduced only where a permit is realistic. A Swiss household-payroll specialist can handle the registration and payslips.
Timing
- Season searches open in September; the strongest candidates are placed by late October
- Allow four to six weeks for a live-in search, longer for a rota pair
- Summer searches open in April
What families pay
- Indicative live-in salaries in Switzerland: CHF 6,000–7,000+ gross per month (2026 market range)
- Seasonal packages add accommodation, board and a lift pass, quoted per season
- Rota pairs: each nanny is a separate placement at the same rate
- Lumière's fee is separate and stated in writing before the search — see our terms
How We Match Your Family
Every search starts with a conversation with the Lumière team, led by Hanna, a career nanny, and ends with a hand-picked shortlist — never a database. Four steps, the same for every family.
Comprehensive Screening
References verified in person, criminal-record and DBS checks where applicable, credentials sighted, and experience with staffed, international households assessed.
Language Assessment
Candidates are interviewed in the languages your household uses; qualifications, first-aid certificates and right to work are verified before any introduction.
Family Consultation
A detailed conversation about your household, routines, schools, travel and the person you want in your children's lives.
Cultural Matching
Temperament, values and professional maturity matched to your family; two or three candidates presented, each one Hanna and the team would work alongside.

How Lumière nannies are vetted for Verbier families
Lumière is based on the French Riviera and is not a Swiss-licensed placement agency. For Swiss families we introduce vetted candidates; the family is the employer and handles the Swiss employment contract, AVS/AHV registration and any permit application, usually with a Swiss household-payroll specialist. We confirm each candidate's eligibility before any introduction.
Right to work in Switzerland
EU/EFTA citizenship or an existing Swiss permit confirmed before any introduction. Non-EU/EFTA candidates are introduced only where a permit is realistic; the application is made by the family through the canton.
Declared Swiss employment
The family registers the nanny for AVS/AHV and accident insurance and signs a Swiss employment contract; we explain each step.
Minimum wages and hours
Swiss household staff are covered by the federal standard employment contract for domestic work and, in Geneva and Vaud, by cantonal rules. Seasonal and rota schedules are written to respect them.
Criminal-record extract and references
Home-country criminal-record extract, references verified in person by the Lumière team, paediatric first aid and, where relevant, mountain and water-safety experience.
Multilingual interview
French, English and German candidates interviewed in the language the family will use; Russian, Italian and Spanish on request.
Season-ready
Candidates with prior chalet, ski-season or Riviera-summer experience are flagged on the shortlist.
Declared employment. Every placement is made on a written, declared contract with the family as employer. Lumière does not place undeclared nannies.
The Lumière difference
Founded by a professional nanny, not a recruiter
"I founded Lumière because the families I worked for kept asking the same question: where do we find another nanny like you? I still take private placements. Every nanny I place is one I would work alongside."
Hanna founded Lumière Placements after years inside private households as a career nanny. Lumière is the only French Riviera-based boutique placement agency, placing across Monaco, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Nice, and worldwide, founded and led by a professional nanny.
